Fall 2015 Fashion Trends

As fall approaches, it is important to know what is trending this Fall. Keep reading to find out what items are must-haves in your closet. No one should be caught with outdated trends right? Let’s stay in season by applying the following silhouettes, textures, prints and colors that will be hot this fall.

The theme for this season will be 70’s Boho. Get ready to see fringe, crazy pleats, capes, high-waist pants, dusty violets, soothing grays and window plaid prints.

Silhouettes: are all about being big, flowy and oversized. There is something about a vintage romantic and free spirited vibe that makes the 70’s so magically magnetic.

High-waist- a narrow waist can be achieved with big belts, high-waisted bottoms, jumpsuits, coats, dresses and wrapped over coats. This shows an illusion of an hourglass figure. The look can be styled with a flowy piece such as a top or scarf.

Capes- over-sized sweaters, ponchos and outerwear capes are a must. These pieces have been in street fashion for a long time and are now finally coming to play. Designers from Dolce & Gabbana, Ralph Lauren, Tibi to Nanette Lepore all showcased the cape trend on the runway.

70’s wide leg- ankle length trousers in a thick fabric such as wool, leather or jersey. Wide hemlines are a 70’s themed must this year.

Texture: crazy pleats, lace inspired, and fringe all create movement in an outfit for a dramatic boho look.

Crazy Pleats(Carwash)- These pleats are perfect to wear with a structured or loose top. Own the look with a pleated skirt or dress.

Fringe- skirts, tops and dresses have a touch of fringe along the hemline or all over. We would suggest to start small with a fringe-trimmed skirt.  A hint of fringe along the hemline or sweater should do the trick. Top the look off with a sexy pair of boots or heels.

Lingerie-inspired- This trend is for the feminine detail lovers.  They use delicate lace tops, bralettes, bustiers, corsets and skirts.  Adorned with soft bow collars that drape around the neckline, these pieces are perfect for the professional workplace. Some use a Victorian collar, inspired from the Victorian era. These collars are now interpreted into today’s fall fashion to create a delicate ruffled turtle neck. These elements come together to create a soft, gentle and elegant look.

Prints: inspired by bohemian and window themes.

Boho- This nostalgic 1970’s look is achieved by electric and vibrant colors. Prints include floral, embroidery, embellishment feathers and paisleys to signify a free spirit. This look can be best created with long maxi skirts or dresses.

Window plaid- think of gingham but bigger! This print is going to be big this fall. The typical color is white on black which could be displayed on trench coats, jackets, sweaters, ponchos, blouses and even trousers.

Colors: This includes a map of trending colors.  Most are soft happy colors which include, Dried herb(cool olive), Desert Sage(creamy nature green), Stormy weather(cool gray), Oak Buff(dark gold), Marsala(cool burgundy), Biscay Bay(vibrant teal), Cashmere Rose(soft muted pink), Cadmium Orange(similar to papaya color), Reflecting Pond(dark purple) and Amethyst Orchid(light-lavender).

Fall 2015 Color trends

Top color #1(Gray)- all shades of cool gray match easily with anything in your closet from carigains, tops, skirts, jeans to leggings, boots, coats and dresses. Gray IS the new black for this season. Go bold by completing a head-to-toe look of gray. You will set trends this fall.

Top color#2(Dusty Violet)-the purple-pink hue that is similar to lavender brings a pop of color to a muted outfit. It may be a more spring-y tone, but it is sticking around for fall.

One does not need to be constantly researching the newest trends, but it is important to do a once-in-while update. No one wants to look like an outdated mannequin for Grandma's clothes. Of course, this does not mean that you have to go out and buy an entire wardrobe of clothing. A couple basic pieces such as a cape jacket or high-waist trouser will do the trick. Use what you have, maybe your mom still has that high-waited pant from the 70’s. It can be topped off with a lace bustier and a simple cardigan. Whether it is a silhouette, texture, print or color never use more than one trend in the same category. A fringe jacket(texture) can be paired up with a violet top(color) and window(print) skirt.
